At noon every weekday, a line begins to form, filled with eager and hungry locals, students, and tourists at Dublin's Green Bench Cafe. This inconspicuous spot never fails to attract a large crowd of patrons excited to eat at what is known as the best sandwich spot in Dublin.
It is actually impossible to order wrong here as everything is absolutely delicious. The sandwiches are constantly changing, are large and are under €7 each. The employees typically recommend the chicken sandwich. All of the food is made from scratch on the premises. If you aren't interested in a sandwich, Green Bench Café also serves salads and soups which change daily as well.
If you are able to wake up early enough to make it to breakfast, Green Bench serves their Famous Breakfast Sambos from 7:45 AM until 11:00 AM. This is basically a bacon, egg and cheese on steroids. Green Bench also serves delicious porridge and a extensive selection of baked goods throughout the day.
Know Before You Go:
There is no seating at the cafe, but there is plenty of room to sit outside in the area surrounding the restaurant. St. Stephen's green is also very close if you have time for a quick picnic.
Green Bench is only open during the week and closes at 4:00 PM, so be sure to plan accordingly.
Don't be deterred by the intimidating long line, as it moves quickly and the sandwiches are definitely worth the wait.
