If you’re visiting Florence, there’s probably one thing on your mind: food. And with good reason—Florence is known for its incredible and authentic Italian pasta, panini, and pizza. The Duomo is definitely the landmark that Florence is most widely known for. It’s a staple of Florence culture, and one of the most beautiful churches in the city. Be sure to climb almost 500 steps to the top of the dome for an unmatched view of the entire city and burn off those calories from that pizza you ate last night.
2. See the Ponte Vecchio
Located on the Arno River, the Ponte Vecchio is one of the most popular and most beautiful spots in Florence. The view out onto the Arno from the bridges of the Ponte Vecchio is a must see for anyone traveling to Florence (and there are AMAZING gelato shops bordering the river, which is definitely a plus).
Everyday in Florence, there is a long line of people awaiting entrance to the Academia, the home of the famous statue of David. If you like art and history, or just want to see the statue that everyone in Florence is talking about, definitely head over here.
The Boboli Gardens are basically an expanse of beautiful trees, flowers, fountains, and statues located in a huge park. These gardens are gorgeous and offer a perfect place to visit if you just want to take a walk, have a picnic, and maybe even take great photos to get a great nature Instagram (if the lighting is right, of course).
5. Take a Tuscan Wine Tour
Everyone knows that Florence, and Italy in general, is known for its wines. You can’t visit a Tuscan city without going on a wine tour. The wine tours in Tuscany always take you to the most beautiful places, and will have you feeling the perfect combination of tipsy and cultured by the time you leave.
