Your Guide to Eating Brunch in Madrid

Madrid is a city full of siestas, museums, parks, shopping, and of course – amazing food. Here’s a guide to some of the best places if you’re looking for a fun yet casual brunch.

Federal Café

When you tell people that you’re visiting Madrid, they will usually tell you that you must go to Federal for brunch. They have an amazing breakfast menu with items ranging from cereals, pastries and avocado toasts to all kinds of eggs and breakfast burgers. The iced coffee is also to die for, and finding a good iced coffee in Spain is a challenging task!

Ojalá

Ojalá is an adorable Mexican style restaurant in the heart of a really fun area called Malasaña. This restaurant has a great atmosphere that makes you feel like you are on vacation, and the downstairs looks just like a beach! Aside from their amazing brunch menu, Ojalá is an awesome place to go for drinks when you’re looking for a relaxed night accompanied by amazing margaritas and sangria.

Mercado de San Miguel

Mercado de San Miguel opens at 10 AM daily and aside from the savory foods and tapas that they offer, their breakfast foods are great as well. There are tons of produce stands with fresh fruits and juices, as well as strawberries topped with homemade whipped cream. Yum.

Pum Pum Café

This tiny, hole-in-the-wall restaurant is adorable and perfect for brunch. The restaurant is little, so make sure to get there early or prepare for a wait. They have mimosas, bread baskets, eggs benedict, and all things brunch! Everything is served on a wooden board which is perfect for the hundreds of photos you will want to take of this food. They also have daily “extended” brunch specials that include coffee, a mimosa, yogurt, pastries, bread, avocado toast, and last but not least – CAKE, all for 15 euros!

La Bicicleta

La Bicicleta is another adorable café with amazing iced coffee and a delicious brunch. The menu has bagels, yogurt, egg dishes, and their specialty – toasts. They also have homemade pastries which never disappoint. The atmosphere is super chill, the entire café is biker-themed which is different and cool. 

Mercado de Ildefonso

Mercado de Ildefonso opens at 12 PM daily and is the perfect place to stop into while shopping on the beloved Calle Gran Via or Calle Fuencarral. There are tons of food options including delicious mushroom risotto, pizzas, tacos, crepes, as well as the typical Spanish foods such as Spanish tortillas and croquettes. In addition to the 15+ vendors, there are two separate terraces where you can sit and enjoy your food.
