Where to eat in Florence

If you’re a self-proclaimed foodie, or you just like pizza and pasta, then these are the four must-visit restaurants in Florence, Italy. 

 

La Giostra(BorgoPinti 18R)

This favorite restaurant makes it onto just about every guide to eating in Florence and there's a good reason why. Simply put, the food is delicious. Upon sitting down, you will enjoy complimentary champagne and a slew of appetizers, ranging from bruschetta to meatballs.

While eating, you can check out the photograph-lined walls that feature just about every celebrity that you can think of. You'll most likely have the opportunity to meet the restaurant's owner, who is hard to miss with his wrists lined with silver bracelets.

Trattoria 13 Gobbi (Via del Porcellana 9R)

This old restaurant is loved by locals and tourists alike for its consistency and authenticity. The restaurant offers a 7:30pm seating and a 9:30pm seating and is always packed. Don't even try to go here without a reservation. Everything you order here will be absolutely delicious, but their specialties are labeled in red on the menu.

What to order:

     -Buffalo Mozzarella & Tomato

     -Pear & Pecorino Cheese Salad

     -Rigatoni with Mozzarella & Tomato

     -Steak Florentine

     -Cheesecake (order this as soon as you sit down because they often run out of it)

Trattoria 13 Gobbi Florence

 

TrattoriaGargani (Via del Moro 48)

While this restaurant is less well-known, it's food offerings are just as delicious as the others. It’s a small family owned restaurant right by Piazza Santa Maria Novella. The waiters are young and cool, and if you ask for Niccola, you might just receive free lemon cello shots. 

What to order:

     -Burrata

     -Fresh Pasta with Porcini Mushrooms

     -Veal Scaloppini with Avocado and Truffle Oil

TrePanche (Via Antonio Pacinotti 32R)

This is hands down the best restaurant in Florence. This hole in the wall is a short cab ride away from the center of the city, but it is totally worth it. The whole restaurant only has 3 benches, so go with a small group.

The restaurant even has a separate menu just for truffles. They also have the most amazing cheesecake that you’ll be dreaming about for years to come.  

What to order:

     -Noodles with Truffles

     -Four Cheese Truffle Ravioli

     -Sliced Veal Steak with Truffles

     -Pasta Arrabbiata

     -Cheesecake
